Saucy Meatballs

There are many things that can be done with mince meat, and one of those things is making meat balls. There are different types of meatballs you can make, for example cheesy meat balls or dry meatballs but I went for saucy meat balls today. This recipe would go well with spaghetti, or mash potatoes. You can be creative when making your meat balls by what you add in the mince, but you will find that I wasn’t to creative when I made these because I felt the sauce would give the dish enough flavour. I do hope you try the recipe below, if you do please use the hashtag #inheatherskitchen on all social media sites so I can check it out. See you soon x

makes 24 meatballs

500g Mince meat

1 Egg

1 Large chopped onion

1 Tbsp of tomato puree

1 Teaspoon Tumeric

1 Teaspoon Paprika

1 Teaspoon Mixed Herbs

1 Tbsp of Sugar

300g Chopped Tomatoes

Salt and Pepper

1. In a large mixing ball, add your mince, salt and pepper then crack your egg and with your hands combine all the ingredients together. Once fully combined take a reasonable sized chunks of meat and roll with your hands into a ball shape. (you can put some flour on you hands to stop the meat from sticking)

2. Once all balls have been made, in a sauce pan add in your onion and fry for 3 mins on a medium heat. Then add in your meatballs, gently (so they don’t break) fry for 5 mins. Then add in your spices and fry for a further 2mins.

3. Now add in your puree and give it a mix till it is fully combined with the meat then add in your tomatoes and herbs then mix again,  pour 100ml of water, and reduce to a low heat, and let simmer for 15 mins, add your salt and pepper. and you are done :)
